Gaisce_Logo.pngGaisce or “Great Achievement” is a self-development programme for young people aged 15-25 years and is awarded by the Irish president. Here in Castletroy College the Bronze Award is completed by a number of Transition year students each year and is led by Ms McGrath - our Transition Year coordinator.

The Bronze Award consists of completing one hour a week for thirteen weeks focusing on the three areas of physical recreation, community involvement and personal skills. In previous years, students have participated in activities such as dog walking for Limerick Animal Welfare, helping out in charity shops, participating in their sports for example: GAA, basketball, rowing, boxing, baking, playing chess and many more. Also as part of the programme you are brought on a two day adventure trip. Here at Castletroy College we go the Adventure Centre in the Burren in Co.Clare

Gaisce is a great way to become more actively involved in your community and also to develop your personal skill-set. The adventure trip also allows you to appreciate nature and make new friends.Gaisce has been rated very highly by past Transition Year students with many saying it was the highlight of their TY experience.
