Hockey is a great team-sport to be apart of as it allows you to develop your communication and collaboration skills.
Hockey is a popular sport here in Castletroy College with Ms. Griffin managing the Junior team and Ms. O’Leary managing the Senior team. The Junior team trains on Monday after school and the Senior team train every Wednesday after school in the back pitches. The team also enters into a cup and a league each year. The team also have the privilege of being coached by a member of a local hockey club from outside of the school.
Over recent years the support for hockey has increased which is a great source of encouragement for new members to join the team. Hockey is a sport which has been going from strength to strength recently inside and outside of school, the achievement of the Irish women's team seems to have inspired many young women to take an interest in the sport. Being part of a team is a great way for many students to spend their free time and to form social interactions outside of school as well.
