School Procedures Summary
A summary of school procedures has been published and aims to inform students and their Parents/Guardians about the everyday workings of the school as well as to answer common questions. We ask that Parents/Guardians to review these carefully and discuss them with their children.
Summary of School Procedures
Mobile Phones
The Department of Education and Youth requires that schools implement a policy to restrict the use of and access to personal mobile phones by students in all recognised schools for the duration of the school day. Therefore mobile phone use is not permitted in our school. All students are reminded that mobile phones must be switched off upon entering the school grounds. These must be stored in the students locker for the full duration of the school day (including during break times).
If a parent/guardian wishes to make contact with their son/daughter during school hours, please do so through the school office only (061 330785).
The Senior Leadership Team will facilitate year group assemblies during your child's first week at school. These assemblies will help everyone to focus on the year ahead, enable us to set out our expectations and maintain our whole school community as a positive and productive place to learn and work together.

Attendance
School attendance is a critical factor in a student's academic success and overall development. Regular attendance ensures students do not miss essential instruction, helping them build a strong foundation of knowledge and skills. It also fosters a sense of responsibility and routine, which are valuable life skills. By prioritising consistent attendance, we can work together to help every student reach their full potential.
- Absences From School: Parents/Guardians must notify the school of any absences. This notification must include both the date(s) of the absence as well as the reason for the absence. The school must record all such absences. This is a legal requirement. Parents/Guardians can provide these details in the attendance section of the VSware app - this should be done before 08.30am where possible so as to avoid any unnecessary contact being made with parents/guardians.
- Collecting Students From School (during the school day):
- Full attendance at school is extremely important (unless a student is ill, etc). Students should only have to leave the school during the school day for essential appointments that cannot be scheduled after school hours. If it is necessary to collect your son/daughter from the school during the school day the following procedures apply:
- Parents/Guardians must fully complete an absence request on VSware. This request must state the time at which the student is to be collected at and the reason for the request to be collected. The departure time must coincide with a scheduled break in class (ie students will not be permitted to leave mid-class). This request can be submitted a number of days in advance and will be automatically reflected in the students attendance record once it is approved by the school.
- The student must exit via the main school office and notify office staff as they leave.
- A parent/guardian must be present at the office to sign the student out.
- Where a student is returning after an appointment they are required to sign in at the school office.
- Students are not permitted to sign out of school at recurring times (say on a weekly basis) unless for exceptional reasons and with the expressed permission of the Principal. This applies regardless of the age of the student.

VSware
VSware is our schools information management system that provides parents with a central hub to stay informed about their child's school life. Through a dedicated app or website, parents can check attendance, view timetables and academic reports and communicate directly with the school. It helps parents to be more engaged and up-to-date on their child's progress without having to wait for a parent-teacher meeting or a mailed report.
