Dear Parent/Guardian
As part of our Relationships and Sexuality programme in sixth year we are delivering. The Active* Consent workshop.
What is the Active Consent?
Active* Consent is a national programme, based in NUI Galway, whose goal is tomainstream effective, relevant, engaging, practical and feasible consent education and skills training with 15-24 year olds. This workshop for students takes approximately 2 classes (1 hour 20 minutes) and can be used then as the basis for on-going activities with that class.
The aim of the workshop is to promote a positive and confident approach to sexual health and to equip young people with the tools to recognise and communicate about sexual consent. The workshops are based on extensive research into young people’s sexual behaviours, attitudes and beliefs.
Before we implement the workshop in school, the Active* Consent team at NUIG will deliver a seminar to all sixth year parents. The aim of the seminar is to support the work that is happening in school and encourage conversations at home. Please click here to register for the seminar on Monday 21st.
